The Eastern Suburbs have some of the best tennis infrastructure in Sydney — you just need to know where to look.

- Cheapest court: Baker Park in Coogee is free with no booking. Of the paid venues, Eastside is $25/hr weekdays before 3pm and Prince Alfred Park is $28/hr.
- Easiest parking: Heffron Park and Sydney Boys High School (free on-site), then Snape Park and Mutch Park.
- Latest finish: Latham Park, Eastside, Coogee Beach Tennis and Prince Alfred Park all run until 11pm.

Latham Park Tennis Club — South Coogee
Best for: playing straight after rain and choosing your surface. Six courts, 4 synthetic grass and 2 hard, and you can pick which when you book.
The synthetic grass dries in about 10 minutes thanks to the club's Super Sopper, so call ahead before cancelling for rain. Casual hire is $38/hr.
Eastside Tennis Centre — Kingsford
Best for: variety. Eight courts across hard, clay and synthetic grass, open 6am–11pm daily. It's one of the only places in the East to play on clay, and it also has pickleball.
Off-peak is $25/hr before 3pm on weekdays. The pro shop has a big range of demo racquets if you're thinking about upgrading.
Snape Park Tennis Centre — Maroubra
Best for: late-night hits without staff on site. Book online and the gate and lights switch on for your session. Five synthetic grass courts and one hard court.
Casual hire is $38/hr. Parking is easy except Saturday mornings, when cricket and soccer fill the car park.
Coogee Beach Tennis (Eastern Suburbs Tennis Club) — Coogee
Best for: social tennis. Five floodlit synthetic grass courts at $32/hr for non-members, a licensed clubhouse and $26 social sessions, open until 11pm. It's the cheapest of the beachside clubs.
Coaching runs from the Pro Shop on Dolphin St; social tennis and admin are at the Clubhouse on Bream St. There are no rental racquets, and street parking is tight in summer.
Bondi Tennis Club — Bondi Beach
Best for: the view. Three synthetic grass courts at the north end of Bondi Beach, at a flat $46/hr.
With only three courts it's one of the hardest places in the East to get a court, so book a few days ahead. Court 2 is singles only, and the lights switch off automatically at 9:30pm.
Heffron Park Tennis — Matraville
Best for: groups and anyone driving. Ten courts (4 hard, 6 synthetic grass), a big free car park, and racquet and ball hire for $5 a person.
Late afternoons fill up with junior squads, so daytime or later evening is easier for a casual court.
Cooper Park Tennis — Woollahra
Best for: a calm, wind-free hit. Eight synthetic grass courts in a bushland gully, so the ball flies true even on windy days.
At $40/hr it's one of the pricier options, but the on-site café makes it easy to turn a morning hit into breakfast.
Lyne Park Tennis — Rose Bay
Best for: daytime tennis on the water. Six synthetic grass courts facing the marina, each with its own covered cabana.
It closes early (8pm weekdays, 5pm weekends) and there's little shade, so bring a hat.
Rushcutters Bay Tennis — Rushcutters Bay
Best for: a harbourside hit close to the city. Five synthetic grass courts, $30.30/hr weekdays 7am–5pm, with an on-site café.
Coaching here is run in-house by the venue, so you can't bring an outside coach.
Trumper Park Tennis — Paddington
Best for: an after-work hit a short walk from Edgecliff station. Six synthetic grass courts in a leafy gully next to the Lord Dudley pub.
Lights are never on for 6–7am bookings, so check sunrise times in winter. Parking is limited.
Mutch Park Tennis — Pagewood
Best for: value. A flat $32/hr with easy parking, four synthetic grass and two hard courts, and pin-code entry from 7am to 10pm.
The courts double for soccer and netball, so check the tennis net is up if you're first on.
Sydney Boys High School — Surry Hills
Best for: practising on an Australian Open-style surface. Four Plexicushion hard courts, open until 11pm on weekdays, with free on-site parking.
Enter via Gate 1 at 556 Cleveland St. The car park fills between 3:30 and 6pm during the after-school rush.
Prince Alfred Park Tennis — Surry Hills
Best for: a late hit near Central station. Five Plexicushion hard courts at $28/hr, lit until 11pm every night.
Weekend social doubles are graded by level. Come by train — parking around the park is limited.
